Maria was 93 when she gave me permission to tell her truth in our memoir ‘When the Past Awakens.’ 

I released Maria’s fears and gave myself permission to release my own fears and doubts of writing. I discovered something liberating and beautiful along the way just as Maria did. I let both emotions take the lead and watched where they would take me. And I haven't looked back."
